Caring for a Trans Child (TRANSescc)

Description
[This course will take you about 1hr 30mins to complete.]

In the introductory LGBTQ+ course, you learned about the general issues the LGBTQ+ community and individuals might face growing up. This course focuses on the particular struggles and needs of trans individuals, who, unfortunately, have been shown to be at even higher risk of harm and discrimination in society. This course is particularly aimed at those who think they might or actually do have a trans foster child.

To take this course, you need first to have completed the Introduction to LGBTQ+ Identities and Issues course. This course will not cover the fundamental concepts again and will build on the previous course.

In this course, you will learn:
- What trans means
- The stages of realisation for a young trans person
- About transitioning and the implications
- How to support a young trans person on their identity journey
- Some misconceptions about trans people
- The struggles that trans people may face and how you can support your trans foster child
